Geometry 2014-2015 Syllabus
Materials Needed:
Course Description: This course focused on the development of transformational, Euclidean, and coordinate geometry with extensive real-world application. Students will study logic, inductive and deductive reasoning, geometric definitions, postulates, and the proofs of theorems. Course requirements are rigorous with an emphasis on mathematical reasoning and communication.
Grading Information: Your semester grade will depend on the percentage of points earned in the categories below. Final semester grades will be calculated per handbook policy weighting the semester grade as 80% and the semester exam worth 20%.
Make-up Assignment Procedure:
Tardies: Each quarter you will be given three free tardies. Your fourth tardy will result in a referral to the office. Any/all tardies thereafter will earn you subsequent referrals to the office.

Make-up Assignment Procedure:
- If you are absent for any reason for either the entire class or a portion of the class, YOU are responsible for obtaining the notes/assignments given that day from another student or from me. This is important so that you can maintain a current binder. Most of the time worksheets/assignments will be on the board for you to find yours.
- Assignments will always be posted on the board. Any worksheets or supplements to the notes will have to be obtained from me.
- If you are having difficulty with the material covered during your absence, it is YOUR responsibility to come in before or after school to catch up. Tutoring will be available, look for announcements regarding this.
- If you are absent only for a test or quiz review, you will be expected to take the test with the rest of the class.
- If you are absent the day of a test or quiz, you must make it up within a reasonable amount of time. Handbook states that days missed equals the number of days to make up assignments. Arrangements must be made to take it outside of class time. If these conditions are not met, the test/quiz will be recorded as a zero.
Tardies: Each quarter you will be given three free tardies. Your fourth tardy will result in a referral to the office. Any/all tardies thereafter will earn you subsequent referrals to the office.
Classroom Expectations:
- Respect Everyone!
- Use pencil on all work for class
- Be prepared
- Behavior such as eating, sleeping, throwing objects in the class, writing on desks, phone use, playing games on a calculator, or working on other subjects in my class will not be tolerated. Chewing gum is allowed, however if I see it out of your mouth, you will be asked to throw it away. No food or drinks are allowed in this class.
Consequences:
- Verbal Warning
- Conference after class
- Conference after class & call home
- Referral
Classroom Procedures:
- When the bell rings, students are to be in their seats, homework on the desk & working on warm up assignments for the day. Any announcements will be listed either on the board or the smart board.
- When you finish a test or quiz you have two options: 1. Work on something for another class or 2. Sit quietly and do not disturb your fellow classmates.
- Work on your assignments until you are allowed to pack up for the day. Remember that the bell doesn't dismiss you from class, the teacher does.
- When working with technology, students are to be working on the intended assignment. Students caught working on something other than the assigned program will be referred to the office for being off-task.
